however bewitching and popular they may be. When it comes to travel to South India holidays there are plenty of many popular holiday destinations out there like Kovalam, Kanyakumari, Kerala backwaters, etc.

But if you are looking for tranquil places for your trip to travel to South India, there is also a bevy of jewel-like

un-trodden gems of places that can satiate your need for a peaceful holiday.

Gandikota

Gandikota often referred to as the  Grand Canyon of India  is a tiny village that's

right on the bank of Pennar River. There is a gorgeous downhill trek that goes

through the canyon leading up to the riverbed. Visit the historic Gandikota Fort and

the Madhavaraya Swamy temple and soak up the magnificent views from Gandikota

The closest place from where you can take a bus ride to Gandikota is the old bus

stand in Jammalamadagu; a nearby town. Therefore, to reach Gandikota, you need to

reach Jammalamadagu first

Araku Valley

A coffee lover will fully appreciate the importance of the Araku Valley....it's the first tribal grower's

organic coffee brand to have reached the international market.  Araku Emerald is one of the finest

Indian organic coffee brands and the plantation is open and friendly about demonstrating its coffee

making processes to visitors. Unlike other offbeat destinations, Araku is not difficult to reach...

it can be reached from Vishakhapatnam. So, it's easy to make Araku the star destination in your trip

to South India. Mountains like Chitamogondi, Gaiikonda, Rakta Konda surround the lush green valley

that's relatively untouched and serene.

To get to Araku valley take a car ride from the nearest stations i.e. the Kothavalasa-Kirandul railway line.

Or you can get down at the Shimilguda railway station that's at an altitude of 996 m above sea level.

Pollachi

The second largest town in Tamil Nadu is green enough to take your breath away

and quiet enough to let your holiday in peace. This is the state's largest jiggery

manufacturer and boasts of some amazing temples like the Arulmigu Masani Amman

Temple, Arulmigu Subramanyar Thirukoil temple. Spend some time in the company of

nature at Annamalai wildlife sanctuary and watch the big cats at Top Slip Tiger forest.

The lovely breezes that blow in here year round from the Palghat gaps are an added bonus.

Pollachi is located in vicinity to Coimbatore and umpteen trains run to Coimbatore from every part

of the country ....it's one of the easiest destinations to reach when you are Traveling to South India

Tharangambadi/Tranquebar

The place of singing waves....this sun filled beach town is a truly unusual holiday destination. It was a Danish colony from 1620 to 1845 and there are lots of magnificent examples of Danish architecture and heritage here along with restaurants that serve delectable Danish cuisine. The jewel in its crown is the proud Dansborg fort but there are otter lovely attractions like the governor's palace, an old cemetery and of course the sun-kissed beaches. What's more, Tanjore is nearby and Pondicherry is not far too. So this can become a week-long holiday plan. Tranquebar is amongst the top Monsoon destinations travel to South India...the place simply blooms up as the rain kisses its foliage.
