The town of Tirupati located in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The importance of this town is known for spirituality and seeking the blessings of Lord Balaji (also known as Lord Venkateshwara), an avatar of Vishnu.
There is a very interesting folklore that is associated with the Tirumala Tirupati temple. It seems that Lord appeared on the planet to rid mankind of all evils during the period of Kali yuga, thus reducing human beings troubles and sorrows.
Arising out of this, the temple is also known as Kaliyuga Vaikunta and the deity is referred to as Kaliyuga Prathyaksha Daivam. Being one of the larger temples in India, the management of the temple lies with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (or TTD for short) and the control of the temple rests with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The head of TTD is again appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Tirumala Hills are part of Seshachalam Hills range. The hills are 853 meters (2,799 ft) above sea level and comprise seven peaks, representing the seven heads of Adisesha. The temple lies on the seventh peak—Venkatadri, on the southern banks of Sri Swami Pushkarini, a holy water tank.
Hence the temple is also referred to as "Temple of Seven Hills". Lord Vishnu was known as Srinivasa in human form, hence Srinivasa Perumal temple. So in short, the temple has numerous names attached to it, each with its own piece of local History and culture.
The temple is hugely popular, all over India, and also with Indian expatriates living abroad. The general public have immense faith in the power of Lord Venketeshwara. A visit to the temple can be time consuming and tiring, as one would have to envisage huge crowds and wait in Queue to seek the blessings of Lord Balaji.
Sometimes, the crowd can swell to massive proportions making a normal Darshan a night mare. Care and precaution is to be exercised during weekends and auspicious darshan days, in case a devotee wishes to view in relative comfort.
Devotees desiring to avail a Special Tirumala Tirupati darshan can circumvent the problem in the following manner.
TTD VIP break darshan tickets Break Darshan is an exclusive offering by TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) that provides privileged access and a shorter waiting time for darshan (visit) at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala Tirupati.
Generally, reserved for very important luminaries, celebrities etc. A caveat exists for the devotees- is that they should have donated a lump sum amount as a donation to the TTD trust.
It has a very limited time slot and the cost of the ticket is Rs. 500 per person. Devotees can witness the aarthi and receive prasada at the sanctum sanctorum itself.
The next category is the Special darshan tickets. The privileges include exclusive dedicated entry points. The features include shorter waiting time, dedicated path to the sanctum sanctorum, better crowd management and waiting enclosures. The cost of this service is Rs. 300/- per head.
These tickets could be booked on the TTD website.
For out station devotees, this is perhaps the best and cost and time effective method to avail the tour.
