Southern Circuit - Bangalore, Mysore, Coorg And Ooty

26 May 2023

Peninsula India is a joy to experience. Unlike the plains of Northern India the charm, the beauty, the people and places are vastly different from North of the Vindhyas.  Therefore, a trip covering the cities of Bangalore, Mysore, Coorg and Ooty will be an experience to remember.

The first and foremost ingredient for any successful tour itinerary is a tour plan. This largely depends on the available time at one’s disposal and one of the tour circuits that is immensely popular is the Bangalore, Mysore, Coorg and Ooty circuits.

The longer duration of the tour implies lesser is the diminishing cost of travel and in that context it makes sense to cover all the 4 cities mentioned above in Bangalore Ooty Coorg and Mysore Tour.

An ideal trip duration should be in the range of 8 to 10 days to get maximum benefit from this circuit. This tour can also be tailor made starting in the reverse order first and culminating in Bangalore too.

The first thought that comes in every travellers mind is when to travel?  Well, in South India unlike North, where it is extremely hot, this tourist region boasts of a salubrious climate on account of the Deccan plateau and the Western Ghats, mild and pleasant to undertake journeys almost all the year round.

We have covered information on Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty in one of our previous blogs and we shall attempt to understand this destination in brief with emphasis on Coorg to supplement what has already been written in an earlier blog. You can also read as well at Experience South India - Bangalore, Mysore & Ooty Tour.

Bangalore is a vibrant city, with a cosmopolitan culture and one can get attracted to its fast paced nightlife. For the more conservative a peep into the cultural aspects of the State is showcased in the various festivals that happen off and on.

Whilst, in Bangalore, the Art Museum  and Chitra kala parishad offers handicrafts made straight from the artisans wares to the end use buyer.  The Dussera festival of Mysore is a shining example of showcasing Karnataka’s heritage and culture.  Summers are a good occasion for the flower show and the UNESCO heritage toy train is a novelty to experience to take a traveller back into the times of the colonial era.

Focussing our attention on Coorg, it is aptly described as the Scotland of India. The truth is – it is famous for its exquisite climate, rolling meadows, coffee plantations and an occasional stream.

It resembles Scotland in terms of its similarity to the terrain, climate, colonial architecture and the waterfalls. For those into wild life the Elephant Camp in Dubare run by the Government owned and operated by Jungle Lodges and Resorts will be an experience to remember.

Other popular tourist destinations in Coorg are Abbey falls, the Tibetan Monastery, Omkarareshwara temple, Madikeri Fort, Government Museum, Gaddige and Raja’s seat.

Where to stay?

The infrastructure available is truly word class in all the 4 destinations mentioned in this blog. For the backpackers, reasonably priced Inns, home stays, are a good option.

For those able to afford elitist travel, top of the world amenities in luxury resorts and 5 star stays are a good alternative to consider. The traversed distance will be around 1000 Kms, for the entire duration.
