January 22, 2024, is a red letter day in not only Indian History but World History too. It holds significance for the entire Hindu population of the Universe. It is also a landmark day in the annals of Spiritual Tourism, an iconic day for a memorable celebration. Yes indeed, the cynosure of all eyes is the Ram Janama bhoomi where a 500 year old lost glory has been rekindled to life.
The year was 1528, and two years prior, Babur the Muslim ruler came to India to besiege a county full of cultural and spiritual riches with his autocratic ways. The city of Ayodhaya was stripped of its glory by the destruction of the Ram temple and instead a Muslim place of worship was constructed above it.
No amount of pleading and cajoling by the Hindus had any impact on Babar. The newly constructed mosque was named Babri Masjid, as one of Babur’s chief, was instrumental in constructing the mosque on top of the demolished Hindu temple.
In fact, the word Ayodhaya is derived from Yodh which means war and Ayo which means sans so in fact it was a city which literally meant a city without wars. Such was the peace loving people of Ayodhya reflecting the very fabric of the peace loving community of Hindus. Ayodhya and Varanasi Tour is the best option for you to take a pilgrimage journey.
With a budget of Rs. 1800/- crores it is probably one of the most expensive temples constructed in recent times, whilst a budget of Rs. 85,000/- crores has been earmarked for the development of Ayodhaya itself. What does this mean? It means the town is being curated as a hub for spiritual tourism in India.
The temple is built on the Nagara style of architecture and is spread on a vast expanse of land measuring over 2.7 acres, over the ruins of the ancient temple measuring 380 feet in length and 250 feet in breadth.
Overall it is spread over 3 floors, and has not used any steel in its construction and therefore an engineering marvel in itself. The pillars and walls showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods and goddesses.
It is a feather in the cap for Kannadigas as ace sculptor as the idol of Ram Lalla was sculpted by Arun Yogiraj, from Mysore. Further, this stone used for the idol is found in Mysore district in Karnataka.
The inaugural event was a grandeur ceremony where invites from 50 countries were issued passes for the inaugural participation. In some ways it was a world event to be remembered.
People's participation in the grand event was so huge and the lucky ones to be present at the temple site saw, a 108 feet long agarbatti gifted by a Vadodara based devotee, a diamond necklace again gifted by a jeweler, Kaushik Kakadiya a Surat businessman, a 1.2 Ton laddu from a Hyderabad based devotee.
Last but not the least a temple bell from Namakkal using silver, copper and bronze, by a businessman whose name is Andal. The main deity has inscriptions of the Dasa Avatara of Lord Vishnu which is truly unique and exquisite.
The proactive measures of the UP Government along with support from the Union Government have resulted in Ayodhya featuring on the world map, which was hitherto absent.
With an investment of Rs. 1,400 crores the Sage Valmiki Airport, has modest air connectivity to cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Plans are on the anvil to start a more domestic schedule when the summer schedules of Airlines come into effect.
Plans are also a foot to factor chartered flights from the rest of the world to Ayodhya with larger aircrafts. The re-modelled Ayodhaya Cantt Railway Station has been constructed from scenes from the Ramayana folklore and the station is well connected to all major cities in UP and far flung cities like Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
With the advent of Vande Bharat trains and Vande Bharat sleeper trains, more circuits will be covered on priority. Truly in times to come it shall be a world class spiritual destination and has aptly earned the name the Vatican for the Hindus.
