In the foothills of the Western Ghats in Mysore District of Karnataka is the Bandipur National Park. It's one of the best sanctuary for viewing and photographing wildlife. The forest itself offers some of the best lighting among South Indian Jungles. The Bandipur Sanctuaries is 3,300 feet above sea level. The forest is varied ranging from dry scrub vegetation in the east to moist deciduous forests in the west along with a wide variety of flora and fauna. Bandipur Sanctuary is interconnected with the Nagarahole National Park in the North, the Mudumalai National Park in the South and Wayanad Sanctuary in the West.

Bandipur National Park used to be private game reserve of the Maharajas of Mysore. The late Maharaja Jaya Chamaraja Wadiyar, the founding Chairman of the Indian Board of Wildlife was a keen Wildlife enthusiast. Pioneering a concept: 'bringing you closer to Nature' has been conceived by a couple with great passion and appreciation for the Wilderness. They are none other than Maharajkumari Vishalakshmi Devi, the youngest daughter of Jaya Chamaraja Wadiyar and her husband Kanwar Gajendra Singh of Auwa, who is also a keen photographer, bringing forward Tusker Trails an exclusive Wildlife Resort.
